Filling the Holes!

The penultimate boss in Sepulcher of the First One was Rygelon. Early on we realised it wasn’t an easy fight. Both because of the dps-check and also because it was so easy to mess up with the different holes. We decided to take on a very organised tactic where we assigned everyone to exact holes, and expected everyone to enter just that hole and not accidently anyone elses. We also planned who should soak the Cosmic Cores and when. The execution was to begin with lacking, but over time we got better and also started getting close to doing enough dps to actually kill him in time. Today we finally managed. Good job everyone! Only one boss to go!

Dipping our Toes!

While we haven’t fully cleared heroic we heard rumours that the mythic encounter for Vigilant Guardian would be fairly easy, so since we were exactly 20 we decided to go test it. The first night on the boss we realised it wasn’t as easy as proclaimed, at least not for us, but we still had some progress and felt like with some more pulls we could perhaps get there. Tonight was the night we got there! First boss is dead and we have dipped our toes in Mythic!

Infiltration!

We reached Lords of Dread and clearly the most inspired encounter in Sepulcher of the First One! We immediately concluded that the majority of the fight was for the ranged to sort out, while the melee just stayed on the bosses and looked out for green stuff going across the floor. It took a little bit of adjusting, but soon we somewhat had an idea of what we were doing. Then came the point of the Infiltration of Dread ability and we just fell apart. At first it was really hard for anyone to see what it was we were supposed to see, and nobody thought they had seen anything before the time was up and we died. Then we started realising what the thing we were supposed to see looked like, but we still didn’t get the right people out in time. Word was that there was a helpful weakaura but we decided against it and instead it was said that anyone who saw anything would speak up and say the names; and Thyrah, who was tanking and thus couldn’t be infiltrated, would try to listen for the names said 3 times. This obviously created a situation where we all spoke at the same time on Teamspeak, which was a bit chaotic, but still ended up working. We started freeing the right people and getting further in the fight, and soon enough the bosses were dead! Only two bosses to go!

An Old Foe!

Ever since we had to fly around with Anduin Wrynn to different places in Stormwind and he kept getting lost, during the intro quests to Cataclysm, we have known he was a bratty piece of shit. The years had only increased our rage so finally getting to slap Anduin around was truly a dream come true. As we started progressing the encounter we soon realised it was a tricky fight, especially the first phase where we messed up repeatedly with the dark and light matchups. We devised a strategy where the light people would stand still and the dark people would move and find the light ones, which worked better than free for all, but still had it’s downfalls. We had a massive amount of early wipes, but slowly we improved and got better and more consistent at doing the mechanic correctly. Phase two had a few hickups as well, but nothing like phase one. And basically as soon as we got to phase three we defeated him. Anduin down! Three more bosses to go!

Reclaimed!

While Lihuvim was a pushover, we soon realised Halondrus the Reclaimer was much harder. At first it seemed like a crazy amount of damage to heal thought, and a really hard dps-check. But as we got a bit further in the fight, and managed to not be knocked off the bridges, it suddenly seemed a lot easier. And it didn’t take us that many pulls before he was dead! Good job everyone, from not having much success last reset we moved the needle a lot this week! Anduin next!

Assassinating Automas!

So far the raid had felt really punishing and hard, as if it was tuned for having the tier gear we did not yet have, and our progress had been significantly slower through heroic than any other raid we could remember. Looking at other guilds it seemed to be a similar situation for them. As we reached Lihuvim, the end boss of the wing, we thought we would get a step up in difficulty. However we were pleasantly surprised to find him a complete pushover! Lihuvim dead! Halondrus next!

Dimensional Tears!

We had heard that the Artificer Xy’mox encounter would be easy, and many other groups had gone to Xy’mox as the second boss, so we had high hopes of breezing through the encounter. However it turned out we didn’t at all like the fight as much as we thought and we did quite a few mistakes, primarily with adds. Tonight we decided to go to Prototype Pantheon instead and see what that fight was all about, and it turned out that encounter was a lot easier. We killed the Pantheon and then went back to Xy’mox and suddenly we did everything right and killed him as well. Two bosses down! Lihuvim or Halondrus is next!

Worming our way forward!

It’s the last raidnight of the first week in the new raid and we have another kill to show for it! We thought maybe we made a mistake going to Dausegne as the second boss, and maybe had we taken the other route we had kicked a lot of boss-ass by now, but going to Skolex confirmed that Sepulcher is tuned hard. We didn’t struggle as much as on the previous boss, and Skolex is now dead. But we suspect we will be moving slowly through heroic. Fun that the content lasts a bit!

The Oracle has Fallen!

On our second raidnight we chose to go to Dausegne, the Fallen Oracle. We had the attitude that all bosses had to die, and we can go left or right after the Vigilant Guardian, no matter. In hindsight we should perhaps have gone to Skolex first, being the slightly easier boss, because this took us a while longer than we expected to progress through! Two bosses are dead, more to come tomorrow we hope!

Sepulcher of the First One!

Finally a new raid! We entered Sepulcher of the First One on normal mode first and realised straight away that the raid was tuned pretty hard. And entering on heroic mode tonight confirmed that fact. We killed the first boss and nothing else. It was a long time ago since we had an overtuned raid and we are looking forward to actually making an effort to get heroic kills. It will be fun, we hope!

Orange!

Soulrender Dormazain is dead. Progressing this boss took months, though we’ve struggled a bit with numbers so we have cancelled some raids and we could have killed him faster if that wasn’t the case. But still we have wiped a lot on every single part of this fight. I think some of us really dislike this guy by now, and thankfully he is finally dead! Good riddance!

Paladin Priest Shaman = CRAP

After killing the Nine we had the opportunity to choose between a rock or a hard place, in other words Dormazain or Ner’zhul. We pulled both bosses a few times and chose what we thought was the slightly lesser evil, Remnant of Ner’zhul. Since we had never done massdispells for Malevolence on heroic mode, we had the joy of working on it now, and we used a weakaura to help us with when we could massdispell or when we had to single dispell (when neither person could get back on the platform). Then we spent a lot of time being blown off the platform anyway because we executed the fight poorly. Though to be fair we have probably died to everything you can die on in this encounter. Today Ner’zhul died. Good riddance! Dormazain next, doh!
