We reached the Nine and we almost immediately thought the fight seemed easier than the Eye of the Jailer. There was some inital discussions about how fast the dispelling should happen, where it sometimes felt too fast and sometimes too slow. But once we hammered that part out it didn’t seem that difficult. However we had a little issue with numbers the last weeks which stalled progress a bit. Tonight we brought along two pugs and killed both the first bosses and also the Nine! Three mythic bosses down! More to come!

Observe: The screenshot of the fight was lost and Luria had to go back and take a new screenshot a different day when the boss had respawned.

Since we killed Tarragrue weeks ago, and every week since, we now headed to the second mythic boss, the Eye of the Jailer. We knew would be the first “real mythic” encounter, and it did indeed take us a while to progress it. First we concluded we didn’t have enough dps or enough healing to “stay separated” in the intermission, so we swapped sides halfway through. And then we had to work on not getting early deaths (to pretending to be cool with beams for example!) so we could get into last phase with everyone alive. Today we managed to stay uncool and the Eye of the Jailer is dead! Two down, eight to go?!

Finally time to face Sylvanas Windrunner. Since we had finished the fight on normal mode we knew it was a long encounter and that we would likely have to spend time to learn. And we did. In the process we died from everything you could possibly die on in the fight, even falling off the poorly contructed bridges in phase two. After we knew they were poorly constructed, and we mentioned it loudly at every crossing, some of us still managed to fall off. The end of phase two was otherwise the first big obstacle, as we wouldn’t reach Sylvanas on time to interrupt her last Ruin, or we would lose people in the rush to kill the last trash quickly and get to the interrupt. It took us some time to get used to that part of the fight, and then we struggled in phase three instead. But today we finally sorted it out and the banshee queen is… alive and good? There seems to be a lot of saving in this expansion! Nevertheless we are done with heroic mode. Good job everyone!!

After killing Kel’Thuzad we decided to go check out Tarragrue mythic since we had heard it was an easy encounter. It took a little while before we did the first pull to run around the map and change our Anima Powers to be what we wanted them to be. But once we were done with that we did two pulls where he didn’t die, and a third pull where he did. It was pretty much a free kill, like we suspected. Sylvanas Next!

We arrived at Kel’Thuzad, the penultimate boss of the raid. We had ideas that the fight would be the hardest so far, but we soon realised that wasn’t the case. We wiped a few times, as you do, on messing up mechanics. And we felt the hurt in the very last phase of the fight. But soon enough we managed to kill Kel’thuzad the 4 times the encounter required! Nine bosses down and only Sylvanas left!

Fatescribe Roh-kalo was next, and we knew from the start what the difficulty would be. That everyone had to learn the circles and that everyone had to both do it right and communicate about them under timepressure. We almost immediately figured out there was a weakaura, or two weakauras that worked together, and I genuinely think if it wasn’t for those auras we would have struggled with this fight a lot more. However with the auras assigning people to one circle each every time, we could almost do the boss. Well, obviously not before we had a lot of wipes, because someone still messed up their circle. Still, today the Fatescribe finally died and we can move on to the last two bosses! Good job everyone, this one was a group effort!!

We now had a choice of Fatescribe Roh-kalo and Guardian of the First one, and since we had already killed both on normal mode the choice was easy and we went to Guardian of the First one. We took some time deciding how we should organize what mark went where with the bombs while the boss was regaining energy, and then we took some time trying to make people execute what was organised, but in the end we had to drop that tactic and have a yolo-approach because not everyone managed to follow the organisation even when we put up the exact lights for each bubble. Mainly because people viewed the bubble in different ways. Some people based their directions on the bosslocation (left right and other side of bubble based on the bosslocation) while others were thinking about the minimap or using a compass and were confused each time the boss wasn’t placed to the south in the bubble. Once we got past the bombplacement-tactic talk and assumed a laissez-faire approach to the fight, we soon managed to kill the Guardian of the First one!

The next encounter was Painsmith Raznal. We had a few different ideas about where the tanks should run to, and how we should be positioned in the room generally, but we quickly decided the furthest distance between the raid and the tank who took a weapon to the face was the only way to go. We also moved Heroism to the second first phase in order to push the boss before he threw more traps. After a lot of dying on our part, the Painsmith finally died today!

Remnant of Ner’zhul was next on the agenda. It took us a little while to not mess up Malevolence and be knocked off the platform, plus the further the fight went the harder it was to stay alive in general. But after some wipes we improved, and now the Remnant is dead and we are halfway through the heroic raid. More to come!

Finally we had the opportunity to save Garrosh Hellscream, our old favourite? Actually I can’t recall us ever liking him, but for the sake of killing a new boss we put that dislike aside and tried our best. At first we made mistakes in the dance part of the fight, and it took a while for all of us to get the movement down. We also had an issue with the adds living too long, where we basically had no time to dps the boss because we were constantly dealing with adds. However with some wipes we got better at the fight and soon enough the boss was dead and Garrosh was… also dead but his soul was not as tortured!

Having only one boss left available we next went to Artificer Xy’mox. Our first problem was who should be moving the seeds, and from which position. Later on we also realised it was one of those “oh shit” encounters where big chaotic moments happen, and you get stuck on that moment for a while and then 20 sec later the next “oh shit” moment happens and now you have to progress that moment a while, until you get to the end of the fight. We ended up spending many pulls here, trying to get everything right. Tonight we finally got there! Good job everyone, Xy’mox is dead!
